Over-Acting Ki Aulad: Part 2 - Saumik Da
I came back to continue writing but what shall I write. I notice that my language here is very poor. My sentences are disjointed, structurally wrong; my grammar is incorrect; my sentence construction iterative; writing style repetitive; and my usage of words may even give Mrs. Malaprop a superiority complex. But how can I help this. Sonali is telling Mr. Khan that she is the most tech-savvy person in the entire office. Yesterday itself she had difficulty starting her own computer. Her mood has been very bad today. She has brought with her a paper bag, which says, no shouts, that it came along with a blackberry. And these mean, self-centered people around here, none of them has asked her anything about the blackberry. Actually she could have done without this bag too. I know it for sure because I have already checked. Yes, my suspicion was correct. It is empty. She has brought it along just for people to see.
I had figured out what she’s up to in the morning itself. I have been so idle that I have even thought that I might go on writing like this and release a book that might become famous and afterwards people may start calling me one of the greatest authors of all times. Some big producer may even want to make a film on my life - Shakespeare Returns. I’m feeling hungry now; I’ll go out and eat something. Its 4:12 pm. I’m back. 4:31pm.On my way to the shop, I saw Pooja. She also noticed me and smiled lovingly. I think there is some divine force that pulls us towards each other. May be we are made for each other. What rubbish…. I am lesser to her by at least 4 years in age, at least 40 points in IQ and 4000 points in looks. How in this world did I think she would look lovingly at me? It must have been the bus conductor behind me. He would be a better match to her than me.
Actually she is not that beautiful. She is always with a friend, who looks like Magica, the vamp in duck tales, baked in a furnace for 15 years. When you see both of them together you start finding Pooja attractive. It is all relative beauty. In absolute terms I am not sure if she is that good looking or not. With these thoughts I reached the shop. I sat down, ordered a samosa, ate it, and then ordered an imarti. The boy told me it is made up of moong daal. I said it is o.k. I know. He said it costs 5 bucks. Now, I may have been looking a bit disheveled but I felt like asking him do I look that price sensitive. Anyways I ate the imarti and came back, sat on my chair and resumed writing. It is 4:50 pm. I will play free cell for a while now.
Due to my mentor I had to close this file. So I thought why not try doing something else for some time. So I proceeded to play a game of free cell. While I was at it Allwyn asked me to go down and collect sample for pens (for supplier forum) on Samhita’s behalf. I took it as a welcome change. I went out; waited for the lift. I was on 5th floor and invariably when I have to go downstairs all the three lifts are at the ground floor. Imagine all of them!! So I waited. Finally the lift arrived and I got into it.
Its 2:21 now. I got into the loo at 2:17. I started thinking which urinal to use. After some thought I walked up to the last one, may be because it would take me 1 or 2 seconds more to reach that one. I waited for what may have been around 15 seconds my mind empty of any thoughts. After that something happened that amazed me. I realized the strength of my will power. Without any prior, even weakest possible urge I was able to let out a jet of water rich in minerals. Boy! What will power I have! Then I pressed the flush. And as it is rightly said that ‘one amusing thought leads to another all that you need is to have an eye for it’ my eyes fell on something that was going to keep me amused for about the next minute or so...
I saw three odonil balls lying in the urinal I had used. I had seen them before too, but it was just then that I realized that they have a lot to communicate. They were of three different colors – florescent, pink and green. I knew from my previous observations that all the four urinals have odonil balls of same color in them. What I had never given a thought was that were they lying in their respective nests in the same order? Instantly my logical brain worked out that there could be six different combinations. ………My mentor is here so I’ll stop for some time.
3:21 pm. What timing. The moment I had closed this file, my mentor came up to me…. Phew…. just for the customary daily question he asks me about what I am up to. I gave my usual answer – nothing. He was least bothered. So, continuing about my one-of-its-kind experience at the loo. I then observed that all the four urinals had different combinations. I also figured out which two were missing. Then I went ahead to wash my hands. I asked myself why I wash hands only in the basin on the right hand side, before I could think of a rational answer for this highly rational, contextual and significant question someone entered the loo. My revolutionary chain of thoughts got broken and upset because of this I came out of the loo.
Today is May 14, 2008. The time is 1:56 pm. I am getting bored like anything. The atmosphere is dull. All the employees here look sluggish. They seem to lack any spirit. It seems that everyone is just probing their minds for some even remotely amusing topic, on which they could start a conversation with others. My plight is even worse. I have no one to talk to and on top of that I am now fed up of self-contemplation. My thoughts are all dried. A clear indication of how idle I am, is this itself that I have found nothing better to do, so I have started writing these absurd thoughts that cross my mind. I am afraid that after some time my condition might become such that even these meaningless thoughts of my idle mind would refuse to pass by. It’s been 4 hours now since I last felt conscious, rather alive. I consider my options. I could go to have tea. No good. I don’t at all feel like having tea. I could go to the loo, but what for? What would I do there? Oh God! What has become of me, I am considering the option of going to loo as a time pass!! Damn I am going crazy. Now its 2:10. Some people in the office are leaving apparently for a meeting. It does not make any sense as it is of no consequence to me but I have a queer feeling of some kind of relief that now I can do what I want more easily as there would be lesser surveillance on me now. But, what the hell? What shall I do? As if I have any options? Or even worse, as if I know what I want to do. Its 2:16 now. Ok I have decided I am not going to take this shit any longer. I want change and I am going to have it at any cost. So I am going to the loo.
.....to know more about his loo story keep watching this space. The fun has just begun !!
